If you're in LA in Aug or Sept this year...
...then try to check out the Florian Maier-Aichen exhibit at the Pacific Design Center. He takes photographs and then digitally alters them to make pretty pictures. "Long Beach" is my favorite. You can read more about him in the Summer 2007 Aperture Magazine (flash required).

Cool stuff. His work reminds me a little bit of David Maisel...
Elise and I met my friend Alex, and architecture student at UCLA, at the MOCA Pacific Design Center to see this today. To be honest, we were not very impressed. Only one of the 15 or so photos even looked altered in any way, and was basically just colorized so all the trees looked red. The tuna sandwich I had at lunch was at least two orders of magnitude better than the exhibit. It's pretty telling that the ticket prices had been dropped from $10 to free...
Two orders of magnitude?!? I would like to see this tuna sandwich!
You can try it yourself next time you're in LA.
